Some of us gamers from our generation remember the Sega Genesis, but there was the first original name before that called Mega Drive. In 1988, Sega of Japan created a 16-Bit game console which plays like in the video arcades and they named it the Mega Drive as they competed against Nintendo's Famicom [NES]. In 1989 with the help from SEGA of America, they'd manufactured the Mega Drive in it's western form as the Genesis. The first Genesis Games based on the arcade games were Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Space Harrier II, Super Thunder Blade, After Burner II, and Super Hang-On. Later in 1991, Sega needed a new mascot as a replacement of Alex Kidd and they'd introduce Sonic The Hedgehog as a Mascot and a star of his own game.
